Summary

This article is an attempt to present this subject from a personalistic perspective. Within the analysis of the issue, four closely related questions have been considered: 1) imago Dei - the original creation of man, 2) imago Christi - salvific iconicity, 3) imago Trinitatis - social likeness to God, and 4) Iconistic dynamics.

HUMANISTIC AND SOCIAL ASPECTS OF THE ENCYCLICAL LETTER "DIVES IN MISERICORDIA" BY SAINT JOHN PAUL II
Summary
The article, "Prophetical nature of the encyclical ʻDives in Misericordia' by Saint John Paul II", shows two aspects of mercy: its salvific significance in the human life and its contribution to promote justice in the world. Thanks to the new approach, the Pope presented the theological truth of mercy with its anthropological, existential and social consequences. God, revealed by Christ, is the merciful Father, willing to forgive people and suffer with them, to give them hope and support. This truth involves Christians practicing mercy daily and it has its significance in the moral life, in the life of faith and for the evangelization of today's world. Mercy in social life puts attention to the central place of human dignity and equality of all subjects and in this way corrects and develops justice.

MERCY AS OIKONOMIA OF THE CHURCH. BASED ON THE EXAMPLES OF MAGISTERIUM ECCLESIAE
Summary
As it was mentioned in the first part of the present article, its purpose was the presentation of the selected issues concerning the ecclesiological and social aspect of mercy in the teaching of the Church, mainly of the pontificate of pope John Paul II, as the answer to the disappearing of the bond of brotherhood among people and the way of the restoration of relation. The study was leant on three pillars (problems): 1) God's mercy in sacraments (through the sacramentalness of the Church, in the Eucharist and the sacrament of penance and reconciliation), 2) the issue of "creativity in charity" (through support for needy people, relationality of mercy and the relation between "mercy" and "justice"), 3) deeds of mercy (through mercy as a life style, the idea of the civilization of mercy and reconciliation as the purpose of the service of mercy).
Summarizing the presented observation, it must be said that the validity of Christ's Church mission and the necessity of its existence in the modern world depend largely on the undertaking of the adjuration contained in Christ's Gospel: "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful" (Luke 6:36).The example given by the Church is to become the leaven of the world based on authentic interpersonal solidarity. The act of mercy creates harmony and unity amongst people, building a better world.
The service of the Church should reflect on the level of authentic faith in God's mercy - for the members of the Church to experience it. God's mercy brings renewal of the earth. The duty of the Church is to show the true meaning of "mercy" that reflects in the human attitude God's perfection, fulfilling justice and to lead a better life.

THE THEOLOGY OF DIVINE MERCY
Summary
God's Mercy never threatens man's dignity. It elevates human dignity to the Divine level of "second creation." This is a kind of "divinization" of man, in which human love is transformed by the Divine mercy into closeness to God. Divine Mercy compensates all human imperfections - not only sins, but all kinds of weakness and limitations of the person's existence. This is how love and mercy are in the heart of the relationship between God and man. Love and mercy are two aspects of one grace: The grace of Divine Love gives life, while the grace of Divine Mercy purifies and perfects human nature. Therefore, Divine Mercy is a precondition on human participation in the nature of God. To put it briefly, man is created through love and saved through mercy.

HOW EXEGESIS INFLUENCES DOGMATICS?
Summary
With the end of neoscholastic theology, there was a necessity of new definition of relation between dogmatics, which is now understood from the perspective of history of salvation, and exegesis which, among other methods, uses a historicocritical method. Fundamentals of that new understanding have been given by the constitution Dei Verbum of Vaticanum II. Reffering to this document, the article presents the thesis that the interpretation of the Holy Scripture by the Church through the ages, that is in the living Tradition, and historicocritical interpretation are two different approaches which, nevertheless, should not be contradicted. What is more, we can read the Bible and understand it not just as a historical text but as the Word of God for today, only when we take into account the mutual influence of these two approaches.

THE HOLY SPIRIT AS THE GREATEST GIFT OF THE MERCIFUL LOVE OF CHRIST
Summary
This text deals with the pneumatological dimension of God's mercy. Starting from the farewell speech of Christ, written by St. John the Evangelist, in which the Savior explains to the disciples that the Holy Spirit is the greatest Gift that He leaves to the Church, the author seeks to sketch a contribution to the pneumatological outlook of God's mercy. The article begins with sketching the horizon of understanding of God's mercy. Afterwards cognitive attention is directed towards capturing the relationship between Christ - the Incarnate Mercy of the Father - and the Holy Spirit as the Paraclete and the Person-love.The analysis crowns the horizontal dimension of mercy in which the Holy Spirit makes man experienced by the mercy of God capable of mercy toward others.

THEOLOGY AS A SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINE AND A DIDACTIC TASK
Theology has been a rightful branch of science for a long time. Obviously, it has its own specific character stemming both from its subject and scientific method, as well as from its specified ecclesiastical mission to which it remains subordinate. Theology is an entirely ecclesiastical science. Among other challenges pointed out by the theologians, theology has to show that it is a rightful academic discipline amid other sciences. It is acknowledged by its subject which is the mystery of God, as well as by its didactic function which consists in the transferring of the content which results from this mystery. Placing a stronger emphasis on its specific research character and on the modernization of theological didactics might support the scientific significance of theology. These very issues constitute the main subject of this article.

THE WORD OF GOD AND THE EUCHARIST IN THE CONSTITUTION OF DEI VERBUM
Summary
What relation occurs between the written word of God and the Eucharist? Presented in this article response to the above question, follows the line of teaching contained within the Dogmatic Constitution of Dei Verbum of Second Vatican Council. The Council has made the appreciation of the word of God undeniable and directly associated it with the celebration of the Eucharist, however, there is nothing in the Council's teaching that would allow to equate the importance of the Christ's presence in the scripture with His presence in the Eucharist. The statements of the Church following the Second Vatican Council clearly confirm this, therefore the occurring difference should be a point of reference for the formulation of the diverse proposals concerning Bible's presence in the house of God.

summarium/abstract:
The Diary of St. Faustina Kowalska, though well known for its description of Jesus as the merciful Savior, lacks a comparable description of the role of the Holy Spirit in relation to Divine Mercy. One must understand the theological context of St. Faustina, of the Holy Spirit and Divine Mercy to see more clearly their connection. Whereas the merciful Jesus is the author of sanctification, the giver of Divine Mercy, the Holy Spirit is the very gift of mercy, gushing forth from His Sacred Heart in the rays of Blood and Water, which both forgives sins and lifts us from our misery to participate in the divine life of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is the very content of Divine Mercy, for as goodness is ascribed to Him in a pre-eminent way, so too is mercy, removing our defects by filling us with His goodness and perfections.

FORGIVENESS IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF MERCY
Summary
Undertaking the problem of forgiveness as something which every man needs from God, it is necessary to look upon it in the perspective of God's Mercy as one of the elements of the process of salvation. Without doubt, we have to consider a man as the greatest fruit of God's creation (not forgetting about ontological abyss), invited to friendship with God from the very moment of creation. Also, the original sin and its effects, as well as God's Mercy revealed in the gift of the Only Son, cannot be forgotten. In Him we reach forgiveness - all of us who ask for it with faith and open heart. This forgiveness is realized in the framework of the New Covenant. It is accessible in the Church both in a regular (sacramental) and an extraordinary way. It leads to the creation of the new heart in us and it enables us to forgive each other in order to build the Civilization of Love. In that way, it reveals the truth that creation and redemption are correlated because redemption does not destroy the work of the Creator but the work of the tempter.
