REVELATION ACCORDING TO RADICAL ORTHODOXY
Summary
A broad understanding of revelation corresponds to a wide range of theological interests of radical orthodoxy. The article shows which conceptions are struggled against and which interpretations of revelation are promoted by the movement's supporters. Following Thomas Aquinas, representatives of radical orthodoxy assume that revelation is an event which combines illumination of the intellect, the interpretation of reality in this light and internal transformation of a soul. Such a point of view leads to rejection of a modern conception of revelation (Suárez's heritage). According to representatives of radical orthodoxy, by coming back to patristic and medieval roots, especially to metaphysics of participation, one can overcome dualisms of faith and reason together with those of nature and grace. Henri de Lubac's surnaturel paradox is spread onto issues of biblical exegesis and development of doctrine. Issues of relation of theology to philosophy is dealt with as well. In fact the discussion with opinions of leaders of the movement should be reduced to a meta-argument concerning the polarity: unity vs distinction. Finally, the attitude of radical orthodoxy is presented against a background of catholic theology. The radicalism characteristic of the movement turns out to simultaneously shake the orthodox balance typical of Catholicism.

tytuł: A Theologian Today. Identity and Spirituality od Theologian in Pope Francis' Statements
Teologia w Polsce 13,1 (2019) 37-57          pełny tekst artykułu   spis treści rocznika

słowa kluczowe: Franciszekteologiateologtożsamość teologaduchowość teologa

summarium/abstract:
The author arranged Pope Francis' statements drawing a portrait of a theologian, and then on their basis characterized the spirituality of the person involved in scientia fidei. The theologian, according to the Holy Father, encountered Christ personally and cannot live without Him. United with the Son, he participates in His knowledge of the Father. The successor of St. Peter demands from the Catholic theologian existential orthodoxy, which is the sine qua non condition of practising orthodox theology. The spirituality of the theologian is inscribed in the "missionary spirituality" proposed to the whole Church; the theologian should be personally involved in the work of evangelization. The Pope also emphasizes the connection between the doctrine of faith and the spiritual life or even with holiness. The theologian, open to Deus semper maior, prays on his knees, but includes in his or her prayer the affairs of the people; his or her reflection is on the border between the Revelation and reality. The soul of theology is not only to listen to the Word of God, but also to take into account the "hermeneutical value" of the People of God. Francis urges us to abandon the theology done only "from behind the desk." The theologian's spirituality must include the willingness to be permeated with the smell of the people and the street.

ADMIRABLE EXCHANGE OF SOULS. DEIFICATION IN ZOFIA TYBER'S (MOTHER PAULA'S) THOUGHT
Dogmatic theology should take into account the "knowledge of saints" in which theological elements are often hidden. The article analyses Zofia Tyber's (Mother Paula, 1890-1963) message in relation to deification theology. An outcome of the searches is compared to the understanding of theosis in contemporary theology (the International Theological Commission and Joseph Ratzinger's documents). The mystic's heritage enables one to apply the traditional theory of an "admirable exchange" to Christian existence. Union of a man with God takes place at the level of "exchange of souls" of Christ and a believer. An emphasis laid on the soteriological role of Christ's soul and on Eucharist in the deification process is especially worthy of attention. Proceeding from Christ's presence in a human soul after the Holy Communion to a total harmony of mind, will and feelings (idea of a "short path") is ultimately aimed at.

summarium/abstract:
The Catholic interpretation of the Holy Scripture is characterised by coexistence of theological principles and scientific methods. Theological exegesis so understood itself requires theological justification. In search of the latter the author of the article referred to the International Theological Commission's documents. A theological basis for both the so-called "great principles of the interpretation" of the Bible and the necessity to apply the historical-critical method are presented in the text. The conclusion deals with suggestions worthy to be considered in the Biblical interpretation. Bipolarism of the exegesis process that is impossible to be defined is first of all to be heeded.

AN "INCOMPREHENSIBLE UNION" OF TIME AND ETERNITY
Summary
The mutual penetration of time and eternity should be taken into account in every theological reflection. The article deals with a general framework that is to be considered while working out particular theological issues. An "incomprehensible union" of time and eternity is one of the versions of the same Mystery of Christ which a theologian should recognize in every single mystery of faith. In all theological issues the coexistence of time and eternity is noticeable and the eternity polar is supreme here

HERMENEUTIC OF REFORM - HERMENEUTIC OF FAITH
Summary
The article focuses on the issue of proper interpretation of the Second Vatican Council's inheritance. Benedict XVI believes a "hermeneutic of reform" is an alternative to a "hermeneutic of rupture". Nevertheless, the expected "hermeneutic of reform" has received different interpretations. That's why a relevant hermeneutic of the "hermeneutic of reform" must be applied. The author presumes that an issue of the Bible interpretation, which is in accord with the postulated by Benedict XVI "hermeneutic of faith", is a practical expression of applying the "hermeneutic of reform". Therefore, the "hermeneutic of reform" has been interpreted in the light of the "hermeneutic of faith".

THE THEOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE ADAM-CHRIST TYPOLOGY BASED ON THE DOCUMENTS OF THE INTERNATIONAL THEOLOGICAL COMMISSION
Summary
The Christological dogma points out the mutual relation between Christology and anthropology. An anthropological element of Christology can be derived from the biblical teaching on two Adams. Having considered the documents of the International Theological Commission, which mention the Adam-Christ typology, the author draws conclusions that are also true regarding other theological treatises and correlation between them, namely, protology, anthropology, Christology, soteriology and eschatology. The article also shows how the First Adam and the Second Adam influence the history of a single man, as well as the whole humanity. An antitype and type may be considered two determinants that influence the history of the old and new mankind.

WESTERN CORNERSTONE UNDER THE CHALCEDONIAN GUIDEPOST LEADING TO MYSTERY OF GOD AND A MAN
Summary
Contribution of the Western Church Christology summarized in Leo the Great's thought turned out to be crucial in formulating the Chalcedonian dogma. The pope's thought was formed also as a reaction to reflection of schools in Alexandra and Antioch. The article mentions the relation between the pope's Christology and soteriology. It stresses the role of Christ's humanity in salvation of a man. One may say that owing to Leo's "dyophysitic" Christology the Council Fathers affirmed the humanity of Christ. From that perspective the Chalcedon Council is not only a guidepost on the way leading to the mystery of Jesus Christ, but it also secondarily indicates the mystery of a man.

THE IMMACULATE EXCEPTION TO THE RULE.VOCATION OF CHRISTIANS IN THE LIGHT OF THE MARIAN DOGMA
Summary
It is worthwhile to meditate the contents hidden in this Marian dogma, for the Mother of God's unique vocation gives light to all the people's vocation. The Immaculate Conception reveals the following truths: relation between the eternal will of God (predestination) and the will of man (freedom); relation between the divine grace and human cooperation; connection between temporality and eternity. The article also underlines an ecumenical aspect of the dogma's contents. The author engages in polemics against the widespread (even among Catholics) opinion, according to which the Immaculate Conception should be an expression of the sola gratia principle.

DIVINIZATION IN THE CHRISTOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE. FOLLOWING JOSEPH RATZINGER (BENEDICT XVI)
Summary
Benedict XVI wrote about a man's universal longing to be "like God". The first parents chose self-divinization instead of divinization by God's grace. Pope Emeritus showed the mistery of divinization in the Christological perspective. It takes place similarly to the way two natures are united in one Person of the Son of God (the Council of Chalcedon). Showing way to the goal is a remedy for false understanding of what theosis is: it is obedience that leads through "the gate of Cross". The way two wills (human and divine) are united in one in Christ is a condition and model of communion of God's will and a man's one (the Third Council of Constantinople).
